Frederick John Mulhaupt, born in Rock Port, Missouri, is known for his skillful depiction of landscapes and seascapes along the Massachusetts coast. He spent his summers in Gloucester, Massachusetts from 1907 and in 1922, he lived there permanently.

Gloucester Harbor, c. 1912 is a seascape scene of boats in the harbor. A flood of golden light emanates on the sailboats docked at the harbor, and is reflected in the rippling water below.
